Q: Why rent a photobooth?
A: Entertainment and memories. Photobooths are a blast!…
A: Entertainment and memories. Photobooths are a blast! Everyone enjoys getting in the photobooth, pulling the drape, and having a fantastic time! Oh, and taking pictures that you and your guests get to take home. One of my favorite photostrips was taken when a bride’s grandmother got in the photobooth with her two sisters. They were all in their 80’s!
Our photobooths print archival quality photostrips that capture the spirit of your event.
Q: What makes your photobooth better than the rest?
A: Several things actually. We were the first authentic…
A: Several things actually. We were the first authentic photobooth company in Kansas City. We have the experience and commitment with superior photobooths to provide the best entertainment for your guests. Most of our competitors assign only one attendant for each event. We always assign two on site coordinators. We believe with two on site coordinators we can provide your guests with the best service and help them enjoy the photobooth to the maximum as well as provide you the best value for your photobooth rental. Our photobooth allows you to let your guests choose between black & white photostrips or color photostrips, or you can choose for them. Most of our competitors can only produce one type of photostrip for the event. If you would like a variety of photobooth programs like funny borders or funny hairstyles, we have that for you at no additional charge as well. We are constantly brainstorming to come up with new ideas to enhance your photobooth experience. We offer some unique items, e.g., the large photostrip and canvas prints that no other photobooth company provides. One of the things that we started and others have copied is the plastic sleeves with ribbon to make your guests’ copies look more presentable as a favor. Some of our competitors place advertising on your guests’ favors. We will never place our advertising on your favor. Your special event is not a trade show, it is YOUR SPECIAL EVENT and you have paid us well to provide a service. You’ve heard the saying “You get what you pay for”, we believe that is true.
Q: What do you mean when you say “authentic” photobooth?
A: I can certainly understand your confusion. When we first…
A: I can certainly understand your confusion. When we first started our photobooth business, there was only one company that said they had a photobooth in Kansas City. When we investigated, we found a “photobooth” constructed on site of plywood that had been hand painted with a camera that was duct taped to the plywood and a string that you pulled when you were ready to take a picture. Then, they would batch print your photos every 45 minutes or so. Our photobooths are real photobooths! They print photostrips within 10 seconds of the last picture being taken. The printer cuts the photostrips before they drop. We don’t need a pair of scissors to divide the photostrips for your guests. We don’t need extra time to construct a photobooth. Our photobooth is already a photobooth when we wheel it into your venue. The only tent that you will see with our photobooth is for an outdoor event when there is a threat of rain, or extreme heat.
Q: How does a photobooth work?
A: Our photobooths are very easy to use. When you are ready…
A: Our photobooths are very easy to use. When you are ready, the on site coordinator will press the buttons to get you started and give you important instructions to help your guests take the best pictures. The photobooth will then take a sequence of photos, usually 4, with about a 5 second delay between each photo. The rush to change poses is part of the fun! Your guests can see their images on the screen immediately after each picture is taken and then watch all of the pictures scroll up on the monitor after the last picture is taken. When the guests exit the photobooth, the on site coordinator will have retrieved the photostrips to place your copy in the photo guestbook and place your guests’ copy in plastic sleeves for their favors. The favors will have a ribbon to match your event colors and will be sealed with a “Thank You” sticker or a customized graphic design of your choosing. The on site coordinator will encourage your guests to write a personal message if you choose the photo guestbook option.
Q: How many photo “sittings” could we expect in one hour?
A: This can vary a great deal with your event…
A: This can vary a great deal with your event. If you choose to have a customized graphic design in the fourth frame of each photostrip, you will reduce the number of pictures taken from four to three and thus reduce the amount of time your guests spend in the photobooth. The photostrips print within 10 seconds of the last picture being taken. If your guests spend a lot of time discussing poses in the photobooth, then you can expect less photostrips to be taken. Having said all of that, the most photostrips taken during one of our events was 187 in three hours. That’s over 60 per hour.
Q: How do I reserve a photo booth?
A: Just call or email us to check availability for your date…
A: Just call or email us to check availability for your date. We will then contact you to gather more details about your event to make sure that we understand your requirements and to finalize your package selection. Next we will e-mail you the contract. At that time, we require a $100.00 Save the Date deposit, then within 30 days of signing the contract, we request the remainder of a 50% deposit. The remaining 50% will be due 30 days prior to your event.
Q: Can you manage stairs?
A: A few. We have provided photobooths at several events..
A: A few. We have provided photobooths at several events at Loose Mansion and we used a handicapped ramp to get the photobooth up those beautiful historic stairs to get to the first floor. We cannot get the photobooth up a full flight of stairs. If there is an elevator, even just a small passenger elevator, we can more than likely get there. Keep in mind, our photobooth is an authentic photobooth, not one of the “pipe and drape” or “construct on site” types.
Q: Will there be an attendant with the photo booth during the event?
A: Yes, actually we provide two on site coordinators that will…
A: Yes, actually we provide two on site coordinators that will monitor and operate the photo booth and assist your guests during your event. One of the on site coordinators will assist your guests in the photobooth with important instructions to make sure they take the best pictures and the other on site coordinator will retrieve the photostrips as soon as they print. They will place one in your photo guestbook and encourage your guests to write a personal message. Then they will place your guests’ copies in plastic sleeves for their favors. Some of our competitors only provide one attendant. We really believe this is more than a one person job.
Q: Does the photo booth need any special power hookup?
A: No. We need a single standard 3-prong 110 volt outlet…
A: No. We need a single standard 3-prong 110 volt outlet with 2.9 amps available.
Q: Where do you deliver and is there any delivery cost?
A: We prefer to stay within an hour to an hour and a half…
A: We prefer to stay within an hour to an hour and a half of Kansas City. Having said that, it really depends on what our schedule is like for the day of your event. If we are busy in Kansas City, it makes it more difficult to deliver outside of the Kansas City area. We do not charge a delivery fee, it is included in your rental package.
Q: How long does it take for the photobooth to print a photo?
A: We only use commercial quality dye-sublimation printers…
A: We only use commercial quality dye-sublimation printers. These printers produce archival quality photo strips in about 10 seconds.
Q: Is there a charge to personalize the photostrip provided to the guests?
A: No, we never charge extra to personalize your photostrip…
A: No, we never charge extra to personalize your photostrip. We have many graphic designs for you to choose from (Check out our Make It Your Own page), or you can provide a design that you are using in other elements of your event, or we can work with you to create a unique graphic design for your event.
Q: What is the size of your photobooths?
A: Our Original Photobooth is 29” wide…
A: Our Original Photobooth is 29” wide, 39” long, and about 79” tall. Our New Extended Photobooth is 30” wide, 61” long, and about 75” tall.
Q: Can you accommodate outdoor events?
A: In good weather, yes. Keep in mind…
A: In good weather, yes. Keep in mind that our photobooth is going to be comfortable if your guests are comfortable. So, heat could be as much of an issue as rain. We do have a couple of 10’ x 10’ tents to protect the photobooth and your guests from the elements. The Original Photobooth needs to be on solid ground, like a floor, or concrete. The New Extended Photobooth can be moved across grass, however, we would prefer to limit the distance, meaning we would like to have access to drive up to the location.
Q: How can I get as many of my guests to take pictures as possible?
A: It usually is not a problem. The photobooth…
A: It usually is not a problem. The photobooth usually becomes a destination for your guests. We do recommend that you ask the DJ or MC to promote the photobooth. Another way to encourage your guests might be to have a photostrip of you on each table suggesting your guests enjoy the photobooth. Usually your guests will see the large photostrip of you that we attach to the photobooth and can’t wait to get in.
Q: Do you accept credit cards?
A: Yes, we do. We accept American Express, Discover…
A: Yes, we do. We accept American Express, Discover, Master Card and Visa.
Q: Can I have black & white or color prints?
A: You can choose black & white or color, or you can…
A: You can choose black & white or color, or you can choose to let your guests choose. Many of our competitors can only print one or the other during an event, but we can have both available and operational for your guests. Now, you should consider your photo guestbook. Would you prefer to allow your guests the freedom of choice or would you prefer a consistent look throughout your book? Your choice.
Q: What happens if we need more than 4 hours?
A: The normal duration to rent the photobooth is 4 hours, but…
A: The normal duration to rent the photobooth is 4 hours, but we can do additional hours at additional cost. If you let us know prior to the event, we charge $100.00 per hour. If you let us know during the event, we charge $200.00 per hour.
Q: Do the guests have to pay to use it?
A: Generally, no. Your rental includes unlimited use…
A: Generally, no. Your rental includes unlimited use of the photobooth and we will not charge your guests for use of the photobooth. However, our photobooths are authentic photobooths and do have a Dollar Bill Acceptor if you would like to charge the guests, e.g., in the case of a fundraiser.
Q: What is the best way to use a photobooth at a fundraiser?
A: The best way is to recruit sponsors for your event…
A: The best way is to recruit sponsors for your event. We can then place their advertising on the fourth frame of each photostrip. This is great advertising. Since the photobooth prints multiple photostrips, multiple pieces of advertising are going in various directions. Best of all, it is advertising that people will never throw away. If one sponsor is interested in sponsoring the photobooth, great! If not, we can create additional graphics and change the graphics at specified intervals according to their sponsorship. You can assign one of your volunteers to manage the money, or since our photobooths are authentic photobooths and do have a Dollar Bill Acceptor we can have each guest place the money directly into the photobooth. At the end of the event, we will empty the Dollar Bill Acceptor and give the designated person all of the money collected.
Q: What is the photo guestbook and how does it work?
A: We provide a black leather KOLO album which…
A: We provide a black leather KOLO album which is the highest archival quality for your photo guestbook. Since we offer unlimited photostrips with each of our packages, we offer an expandable album with unlimited pages, page protectors and all other needed supplies. Be sure to compare the albums that our competitors offer. Usually they are not leather, not expandable, not KOLO. Our on site coordinators will have two high top tables set up with all of the supplies we will need. We attach each photostrip for your guests and then encourage them to write a personal message next to their photostrip. Beware of some of our competitors where you only get one of the pictures. With KC Photobooth you get all of the pictures. The photo guestbook will be assembled at the end of the event and given to you to take home right away. With pictures of all of your guests having a fantastic time, this is sure to become a favorite keepsake. You will not question if your guests had a great time, you will be certain.
Q: How many people can fit into your photobooth?
A: We have an authentic photobooth where your guests will…
A: We have an authentic photobooth where your guests will have an authentic photobooth experience. That means a fun, intimate, pull the drape and have some privacy type experience. Can we fit 13 people in our photobooth? No, that’s a room, not a photobooth. We have had 8 people represented in one picture on a photostrip, but it took some motivation and was mostly just faces squeezing in to try to fit more people than another group did, but they had the best time! If you are interested in fitting the entire wedding party in one picture, have the photographer take the picture.
Q: Do you stand-up or sit down in the photobooth?
A: Like the classic, vintage photobooths, you sit…
A: Like the classic, vintage photobooths, you sit down in our photobooths. Sitting provides the best positioning possible regardless of your height. So, someone that is 6 feet+ tall or a child can use the photobooth equally well.
Q: Do you provide props?
A: Props are a great way to get anyone to act…
A: Props are a great way to get anyone to act up inside the photobooth. It is just plain funny. We don’t provide props. Why? First, I like to be able to recognize the people in the photostrips. Next, I prefer people to be creative on their own. Last, but not least, I am concerned about how sanitary it is to reuse props (my opinion). How do you clean a pink feather boa? If you desparately want props, you can find props just for your event at party stores and you get exactly what you want. Party supply, toy and craft stores have very inexpensive props.
Q: How long with your photostrips last?
A: A lifetime. These photostrips are printed…
A: A lifetime. These photostrips are printed on the highest quality paper with a dye sublimation printer. Your photo guestbook will become an heirloom. Imagine your grandchildren enjoying your photo guestbook from your wedding. That’s incredible!
Q: What are some questions you would recommend to compare photobooth companies?
A: Here are 4 important questions you should ask…
A: Here are 4 important questions you should ask:
- How many events have you done?
When we started, there was one “faux-to-booth” and us. It is nothing short of incredible how many new photobooth companies have started up in Kansas City. It’s your special event, do you trust someone who is “new” or has only done a few events? We’ve done hundreds of events each year.
- Do you have a picture of the photobooth?
Simple question, but you may be surprised with the picture. Tents and curtains are being advertised as photobooths. Some photobooths don’t even have the “booth”. Will you be happy at your elegant event with the photobooth you see in the picture? This is an important question to ask. Imagine expecting a “solid” authentic photobooth and what you get is a tent?
- Do you use an Inkjet or Industrial Dye Sublimation printer?
If they say Ink Jet, you are not getting a true photo on real photo paper. Dye Sublimation printers are real digital photo printers. Dye Sublimation prints will last for decades if taken care of properly. Industrial grade Dye Sublimation printers print in about 10 seconds too…very fast.
- Are you The KC Photobooth?
That’s right. Recently we have learned that some brides have been very disappointed when their photobooth showed up for their reception. They thought they had contracted with KC Photobooth, but a couple of companies are using variations on a theme of KC Photobooth. To be sure, you should ask to speak to Patty or Adam.
Q: Can we have our guests help make our wedding photo album?
A: We will have two on site coordinators there…

Q: Do the images appear online after the event?

A: Your privacy and your guests’ privacy are very important to us. With our Platinum Package, we provide the client with a CD of all images. The client can then choose to share the images.
